Education Centre Kaunas University of Technology
The centre started teacher training activities in 1999, when the
first attempts to design and deliver online blended learning courses
were implemented at the University.
Very soon teachers and professors from other Lithuanian academic
institutions, from NGO training and centres and other organisations
registered for the courses to improve their skills while working
with ICT and other tools for course implementation.
Distance Education Centre at KTU improves the competence of teachers
in the following spheres:
- Organisation of computer literacy courses
- Organisation of courses on methodology of
distance learning
- Improving the skills of working with virtual
learning environments
- Organisation of studies about the basics
of videoconferencing methodology
- Preparation of methodical appliances and
dissemination on the internet and in publications.
- Consultations for teachers on preparation,
delivering and managing

In 2003, the Centre staff was trained on DE methodology (based
on PBL) by supervision of LabSET, University of Liege, and in 2004,
it continues to suggest teacher training in higher education in
Formasup project implemented by LabSET, University of Liege. Thus
not only technological aspects, but training in education and ODL
methodology is being implemented in the Centre and spread to other
academic and vocational institutions.
